Junior Magazine Editor in East Auckland
Our editor in chief is seeking an intern who is interested in work experience with a wedding magazine publisher. Although a digital-only magazine, much of our pre-press process is similar to a printed magazine.
Existing experience using Gsuite (gmail, google drive, google docs, hyperlinking, sharing files) and the ability to resize images would be useful. An understanding of social media is required.
You will develop an eye for layout so that you can work out things like how much content to include and on which side of the page it needs to finish. Whilst you will not be actually doing the layout, you need to understand what we need to provide to the production team so they can make the layout work.
The intern would work closely with the Editor in Chief. The internship offers both time in the office and time working from home. The exact mix can be worked out depending on the total weekly hours arranged for the internship.
Tasks include:
-compiling content provided by partners and content writers
-basic editing
-image sourcing using existing source partners
-get-ready processes for production.
If desired there is also the opportunity to write some content.
Publishing
The intern will also help with publishing tasks such as:
-image editing using Canva
-loading each issue to distribution sites
-composing issue descriptions
-announcing on social media
-updating the website.
There is also regular blog posting of pre-prepared content which needs to be uploaded to our website.
