Intern Duties
Catholic Character and Pastoral Careย โย To maintain and uphold Special character of the school:
- Ensure all children with differences are valued
- Assist teacher in the delivery of Religious Education curriculum to students with special needs
- Display gospel values
- Participate in liturgies and school-wide activities reflecting mission of the church
- Maintain confidentiality
Curriculum supportย โย Develop the potential of the whole child within the classroom programme:
- Support and assist teachers in order to facilitate studentsโ integration into the class programme
- Assist teachers by implementing specific programmes of learning
- Support the learning needs of special needs students with supervision from teacher
- Assist in implementation of individual education plans
- Encourage and support integration into all school activities
- Maintain resources specifically required for special needs students
- Develop and make resources for special needs students
Social Skillsย โย To ensure children with special needs develop social skills to be able to contribute to society:
- Implement social skills programmes if required
- Evaluate, monitor and support social skills
- Enhance social contact and interaction with peers
Outside Support Staffย โย To ensure special programmes related to OT, Physio and speech are implemented:
- Encourage and develop independence
- Implement and assist with evaluation of programmes
- Development of specific skills according to plans
- Assist with mobility, safety and self-care when required
Communicationย โย To enable communication with teacher:
- Regular discussion with teacher
- Attendance at individual education plan meetings
